The core functionality of the Smart Clipboard extension requires intercepting the text you select on web pages and saving it to your device's clipboard. This action is performed entirely locally within your browser environment.

2. Chrome Local Storage & Permissions

To provide features like the "Clipboard History" custom menu and user preferences (like visual feedback colors), the Extension utilizes the `chrome.storage` API.

  • Clipboard History: A history of your copied items is saved locally on your device storage. This data never leaves your computer. You can clear this history at any time from the Extension's settings popup.
  • Permissions Explained:
    • clipboardWrite: Required to automate the action of copying selected text directly to your system clipboard.
    • storage: Required to save your clipboard history and settings locally.
    • scripting: Required to seamlessly update the extension's behavior across active tabs without forcing you to refresh your web pages.
    • <all_urls>: Required so the auto-copy and paste functionalities work correctly across all websites you visit.

3. Analytics and Tracking

We do not use any third-party analytics or tracking tools within the Extension. We do not track the websites you visit or the content you copy.

4. Third-Party Access

We do not sell, trade, or transfer any information to outside parties because we do not collect any information in the first place.
